What's Happened/Happening

Looking Back

Charlie has just returned from Denver, where he was a panelist at the annual conference and exposition of the National Association of Regional Councils, a group comprised of regional economic development organizations. Charlie discussed the impact of high-speed broadband on economic growth—and how civic leaders can exercise leadership in creating healthy local economies by directing public investments in telecommunications infrastructures.

Looking Ahead

WDC is partnering with Realcomm to offer a special Future of Work Summit

We're very pleased that we have been invited by Realcomm to lead a pre-conference track at the Realcomm 2009 Summit Conference in Chicago next June. See our formal press release at this link, and look at the brochure describing the Future of Work Summit in detail here.

We are also very pleased that Herman Miller, ProgressiveAE , Citrix Online, and Spenser Communications are sponsoring the Future of Work Summit. And we are actively seeking additional sponsors; if you are interesting in learning more about sponsorship, please contact Jim Ware to discuss the benefits of associating with us for this very special event.

We urge you to put June 22-24 on your calendar, and come join us on the 22nd for an in-depth look at the changing nature of work and its implications for workplace design and location strategies.

For more information, and to register (there's still room), click on this link:

Hope to see you there.

Other Activities

We also continue to travel regularly on private business with individual clients. If we're in your area and have a few minutes, we'd love to see you for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or "refreshments" any time after 5 PM local time (and you know what that means).

Give us a shout or send us a note, and if we can squeeze out some time, we'd love to say hello and share some good ideas the old-fashioned way:  face-to-face, glass in hand.

Here's what's on our calendars right now:

June and July

It's going to be a busy summer.

Charlie will be in Minneapolis June 15-17, working with an individual client.

June 22 we'll be in Chicago (at the Hyatt Regency) leading a special pre-conference track on the future of work at the RealComm Summit 2009 North America (see the more detailed description of this program above).

On June 24 we'll be delivering a free webinar (registration required) sponsored by Citrix Online. The webinar is called " 'Keeping Your Team Connected in a Distributed Workplace." Details to follow.

We've also been invited to work with the IFMA Foundation and a world-class team of authors and thought leaders to produce a practical action guide for facilities managers that will help them contribute to corporate cost-reductions and efficiency improvements right now, when the need is so high. The book is still in its formative stages; we are committed publishing it in advance of the October World Workplace 2009 conference in Orlando, Florida.

Longer Term

The summer is hard to predict – no specific travel plans yet for July, and definitely not for August, but you never know where we might end up. Stay tuned for last-minute plans that depend completely on our beloved clients and prospective clients.
