Future of Work

About Us
Future of Work is a research program focused on enhancing both individual and organizational productivity while reducing the cost of workforce support. Our clients, colleagues, and sponsors are senior HR, IT, and Facilities/Real Estate leaders and other professionals who seek new solutions to the challenges of attracting, retaining, and leveraging knowledge workers.

Future of Work is sponsored and managed by The Future of Work Institute, our legal entity. We conduct research, build and employ management tools and diagnostic instruments, convene roundtables and workshops, publish white papers and articles, and provide our organizational clients and public officials with guidance about the changing nature of work and how to manage it.

Current Programs

Our current research agenda has three primary themes:

  • Managing the transition to flexible/distributed work programs
  • Attracting and retaining talent (to both organizations and communities)
  • Developing and implementing new kinds of distributed workplaces

We complement our formal research with a series of online polls, teleconference discussions with thought leaders, and periodic working sessions for clients and sponsors.

For a complete description of our current programs and projects, please visit our program page.

Our History

The Work Design Collaborative, which launched and managed Future of Work, from 2002 to 2010, became The Future of Work Institute (FWI) on January 1, 2011. Our network includes some of the largest and most progressive organizations in North America and Europe.
